In August 2007, the Sheriff created positions for 3 School Resource Officers (known as "SRO's") for all three middle schools in Scotland County.  Each officer was carefully selected for his/her ability to function as a law enforcement officer in the public school setting.  Additionally, each officer must successfully complete SRO training coursework offered through the NC Justice Academy. 

This relationship with the school system has been well received by school faculty/staff, school administrators, students, and parents.  In August of 2008, a fourth officer was added and assigned to the East Laurinburg Academy.  This page is dedicated to providing citizens up-to-date information about the SRO program as developed and implemented by Sheriff Jones in collaboration with the Scotland County School System.
